Competition: La Liga

Market: Sevilla win

Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport

Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways on Thursday evening, Sevilla will welcome Espanyol to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, after watching their purple patch come to an abrupt end last weekend, there is no doubt that Sevilla will be seeking an immediate response here. Eventually getting hit with a shock 2-0 loss at the hands of Girona, Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side will be looking to prove that was nothing more than a minor blip. Enjoying what has been hugely impressive flurry since returning from March’s international break, Los Nervionenses should be smelling a golden opportunity on Thursday evening. Causing an almighty Europa League upset on April 20th as they stormed their way to a famous 3-0 romp against Premier League giants Manchester United, Sevilla have also lost just one of their previous six domestic appearances. It should also be noted, aside from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat against Girona, that is the only loss that Mendilibar’s side have suffered at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium since the end of February.

As for the visitors, managing to make what was a crucial return to winning ways over the weekend thanks to a 1-0 victory at home against Getafe, Espanyol will be desperate to build on that performance. However, still sat two points adrift of safety and tipped as a leading relegation contender, Luis Garcia’s side have recorded just a single top-flight win from their last nine attempts – a run that stems back to February 25th. A huge part of the Parakeets’ issues this season has come down to their glaring problems outside of Barcelona. Along with suffering an action-packed 3-2 loss when they welcomed Sevilla to the RCDE Stadium for their reverse La Liga meeting on September 10th, Espanyol should also be worried by a downbeat record against Thursday’s hosts. Now failing to record a single win against the Europa League semi-finalists from their previous nine meetings, we are backing a home victory here.

Bet: Sevilla 4/5 to beat Espanyol in Thursday’s La Liga showdown @ 888sport
