As for the visitors, managing to make what was a crucial return to winning ways over the weekend thanks to a 1-0 victory at home against Getafe, Espanyol will be desperate to build on that performance. However, still sat two points adrift of safety and tipped as a leading relegation contender, Luis Garcia’s side have recorded just a single top-flight win from their last nine attempts – a run that stems back to February 25th. A huge part of the Parakeets’ issues this season has come down to their glaring problems outside of Barcelona. Along with suffering an action-packed 3-2 loss when they welcomed Sevilla to the RCDE Stadium for their reverse La Liga meeting on September 10th, Espanyol should also be worried by a downbeat record against Thursday’s hosts.
