Bitesize Prediction: Sevilla vs West Ham – 10/03/22

Competition: Europa League

Market: Sevilla win

Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport

Looking to pick up a Europe League first-leg advantage on Thursday evening, Sevilla will welcome Premier League outfit West Ham to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Starting with the hosts, missing out on what they would have billed as a golden chance away at Alaves over the weekend, there is no doubt that Sevilla will be seeking an immediate boost here. Eventually having to settle for a 0-0 stalemate on the road, Head Coach Julen Lopetegui should still find the mood in his camp at a high. Battling it out at the top of the La Liga table and sat in pole position to clinch a Champions League spot this season, the former Real Madrid boss has seen his side continue to shine on home soil. Including an eye-catching 2-1 win against Real Betis last time out at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Sevilla are unbeaten in front of their own supporters since the start of November. Gaining a reputation as a Europa League specialist, Thursday’s hosts should be confident of laying down a marker here.

As for the visitors, while West Ham might have put in a rugged display away at Premier League giants Liverpool last weekend, they did suffer a 1-0 loss on the road. Tumbling away from the top-four, it is fair to say that David Moyes’ men have shown some signs of a struggle over recent months. Watching their FA Cup run come to an end thanks to a 3-1 drumming against Southampton earlier in the month, the one-time Manchester United boss has seen his side win just one of their last five matchups across all formats. Watching attacking talisman Jarrod Bowen limp off at Anfield on Saturday evening, the Hammers will be more than aware that they face a huge task on foreign soil here. Given Sevilla’s rampant Europa League record, we’re backing a home win here at attractive odds.
