Bitesize Prediction: Sheffield United vs Hull City – 20/01/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Sheffield United win

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Looking to extend on their stellar Championship run of form, Sheffield United will welcome Hull to Bramall Lane on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, last seen putting in another stellar display as they cruised their way to a 3-1 romp at home against Stoke, Sheffield United have continued to gain a string of admirers this season. Skyrocketing their way towards a Premier League return in 2023 and holding a commanding nine-point buffer from slipping out of the automatic promotion spots, the Blades will simply be looking to extend on their recent flurry. Heading into the New Year with a 2-1 win away at Blackpool, Paul Heckingbottom’s men have lost just one of their last 12 straight Championship matchups – a run that stems all the way back to October 19th. Likewise, along with extending on their FA Cup adventure earlier in the month with a 2-0 victory away at Millwall, Sheffield United have picked up a staggering 19 points from their last seven second-tier battles.

As for the visitors, while Hull might have had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Huddersfield last weekend, the mood in Liam Rosenior’s camp should be at a real high. Now holding a commanding eight-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, the Tigers have lost just one of their last nine Championship matchups – a run that stems back to November 1st. Last seen on their travels opening 2023 with a thumping 4-1 romp away at Wigan, the ex-Derby coach will be desperate for his side to spring a major upset on Friday night. However, set for what is a tough trip to Bramall Lane here, it should be noted that Hull do hold a downbeat record against the promotion contenders. Suffering a 2-0 loss when the two sides last met back on September 4th, Rosenior’s side have failed to win any of their last six straight meetings.
