Competition: Premier League
Market: Goal to be score in both halves
Odds: 4/6 @ BetUS
Facing what is a real must-win showdown on Saturday afternoon, Nottingham Forest will travel to Bramall Lane when they meet Sheffield United.
Starting with the hosts, suffering a major collapse away at Newcastle last weekend as they eventually fell to a 5-1 drumming at St. James’ Park, that defeat was enough to cost Sheffield United their Premier League status. With it finally confirmed that Chris Wilder’s men have been hit with an immediate Championship return, the Blades have continued to show a string of glaring issues this season. Coming under a huge amount of scrutiny on April 20th as they were hit with a 4-1 defeat against Burnley, they have now lost all of their previous four consecutive Premier League appearances by an aggregate score of 15-4. Sat rock-bottom of the table and mustering just 16 points from their previous 35 top-flight appearances, Sheffield United are simply hoping to claim some kind of boost here. However, gaining a real reputation for their glaring defensive issues, Saturday’s hosts have remarkably conceded a staggering 35 goals in just their last nine showdowns at Bramall Lane.
As for the visitors, dealing with a string of public issues this season, Nottingham Forest have a major battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of the Premier League status. Hit with a points deduction back in March, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men open this weekend’s fixtures holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone. Last seen slumping to a 2-0 loss at the hands of defending champions Manchester City, the former Wolves boss also appears to have some mounting pressure on his shoulders at the City Ground. In fact, Saturday’s guests have collected just a single victory from any of their previous 11 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a rut that stems all the way back to February 17th. Opening April with a 3-1 defeat against Tottenham, Forest have also shown their own respective defensive struggles. It should be highlighted, Santo’s men have remarkably collected just a single clean sheet against Premier League opposition since way back on November 5th.
