Bitesize Prediction: Sheffield United vs West Brom – 26/04/23

Competition: Championship

Market: Sheffield United win

Odds: 12/11 @ 888sport

Knowing that they could secure their Premier League promotion in midweek, Sheffield United will welcome West Brom to Bramall Lane.

Starting with the hosts, while Sheffield United might have suffered an expected FA Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Manchester City over the weekend, the mood in Paul Heckingbottom’s camp should still be at a red-hot high. Knowing that they could secure an automatic Premier League return in midweek, the Blades have only continued to impress many across the Championship this season. Last seen in second-tier action claiming a 1-0 victory against Bristol City, United have won six of their last seven appearances against Championship opposition. With their purple patch stemming all the way back to March 11th, Wednesday’s hosts will be looking to make yet another statement at Bramall Lane. With their eye-catching run highlighted by a 4-1 romp against Cardiff earlier in the month, Heckingbottom’s side have also continued to shine on home soil. It should be noted, the Blades have won each of their last four home fixtures by an aggregate score of 9-3.

As for the visitors, slumping back to losing ways over the weekend thanks to a shock 2-1 loss at home against Sunderland, West Brom face a huge uphill battle in their bid to snatch a play-off spot this season. Making the trip to Bramall Lane on Wednesday night sat two points adrift of breaking into the top-six, it is fair to say that the Baggies have shown some inconsistencies on either side of March’s international break. Along with suffering a 3-1 drumming away at Rotherham on April 7th, Carlos Corberan’s side have picked up just a pair of victories from their last seven Championship appearances. Likewise, marking their return from the fortnight interval with a 2-2 draw against relegation scrappers QPR, the former Huddersfield boss will know that his side faces a real challenge in midweek. Hit with a 2-0 loss when they welcomed United to the Midlands for their reverse meeting on October 29th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

Bet: Sheffield United 12/11 to beat West Brom in Wednesday’s Championship showdown @ 888sport
