Competition: League One

Market: Sheffield Wednesday win

Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport

Desperate to widen their buffer in the automatic promotion places on Saturday afternoon, Sheffield Wednesday will welcome Shrewsbury to Hillsborough.

Starting with the hosts, despite suffering EFL Cup heartbreak away at Premier League outfit Southampton earlier in the month, Sheffield Wednesday should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Last seen picking up a gritty 1-0 win away at Accrington Stanley, the Owls have lost just one of their previous nine matchups across all competitions and they are tipped as a leading promotion contender. Holding a commanding six-point buffer from slipping out of the top-three, Darren Moore’s side will be looking to lay down another marker at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon. With just a pair of defeats to their name since back on September 20th, the former West Brom boss has continued to impress on home soil this season. It should be noted, Wednesday have lost just a single League One showdown in front of their own supporters since the middle of February.

As for the visitors, while Shrewsbury might have impressed with their welcomed flurry when opening October, Steve Cotterill’s side have largely failed to build off of that success. Last seen getting hit with a 1-0 loss at home against Barnsley, the Shropshire-based outfit have come tumbling down the League One table. Picking up just a single win from any of their last seven matchups across all formats – a run that stems back to October 15th – the Shrews will know that they face a real task on Saturday afternoon. Likewise, claiming just a pair of points from their previous five fourth-tier outings, Cotterill will also have a headache over his side’s recent struggles in the final third. Failing to muster more than a single strike in a League One appearance over the past seven weeks, we’re backing a home victory here.

Bet: Sheffield Wednesday 1/2 to beat Shrewsbury in Saturday’s League One matchup @ 888sport
