Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Shelbourne win
Odds: 1/1 @ Pribet
Hoping to widen their buffer at the top of the Premier Division table on Friday night, Shelbourne will welcome Bohemians to Tolka Park.
Starting with the hosts, while Shelbourne might still be leading the chase at the top of the Premier Division table, Damien Duff’s men are seeking some recent stability. Nevertheless, extending on their FAI Cup adventure last week as they edged past Galway, the one-time Chelsea star will be calling on his squad to make a statement here. Despite watching their Europa Conference League qualifying campaign come to an abrupt end at the hands of Swiss outfit Zurich earlier in the month, the Reds have embarked on a real domestic fairytale. Suffering just a sole defeat against Premier Division opposition since the end of May, Shelbourne will also be excited by their extended success on home soil. Including a 1-0 win against former champions Dundalk last month, Duff’s side have lost just one of their previous 11 consecutive showdowns at Tolka Park – a run that stems all the way back to April 12th.
As for the visitors, last seen in Premier Division action falling to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at home against Waterford, Bohemians find themselves at the heart of a relegation scrap. Still scrapping it out at the foot of the table, Alan Reynolds’ men have failed to win any of their previous nine consecutive top-flight appearances. With that extended rut stemming all the way back to May 17th, the Dublin-based outfit have failed to collected back-to-back victories since the middle of April. Facing what should be a stern challenge when they travel to the Premier Division leaders this weekend, the Bohs have also shown some extended defensive issues. In fact, Reynolds’ side have shipped a pair of goals in each of their last three appearances across all competitions. Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the table, we are backing a home victory on Friday night.
