Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Under 2.5 goals
Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport
Hoping to try and close the buffer at the top of the Premier Division table on Friday night, Dundalk will make the trip to Shelbourne.
Starting with the hosts, while Shelbourne might have enjoyed a stellar purple patch last month, they have come crashing back down to earth on either side of the international break. Along with heading into June’s break with a 2-0 loss away at defending champions Shamrock Rovers, the Reds were also last seen putting in another flat display. Eventually getting hit with a 1-0 defeat against Bohemians on the road, Head Coach Damien Duff will be glad to make a return to Tolka Park here. Looking to pick up a boost on Friday night, the one-time Chelsea star has seen his side gain a reputation for their rugged displays on home soil. Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up a deserved 2-0 win against UC Dublin, it should be highlighted that Shelbourne have won each of their previous three matchups in Dublin.
As for the visitors, marking their return from the international break with a stellar display on home soil, Dundalk have continued to gain a host of plaudits. Now sat second in the table and with their sights set on making a real charge this time around, the Lilywhites are unbeaten in each of their last eight domestic showdowns. Skyrocketing their way up the standings, the former Irish champions are in the midst of what has become a stellar purple patch. Unbeaten since way back on April 18th, Stephen O’Donnell’s men should also be boosted by a rather rampant record against Friday’s opponents. Claiming a 2-1 victory when the two sides faced off back in April, it should be noted that they have won 11 of their last 12 meetings against Shelbourne. However, with each of their last three domestic contests producing just a single goal, we’re backing what could be a low-scoring affair here.
Bet: Under 2.5 goals at Shelbourne vs Dundalk 7/10 for Friday’s Irish Premier Division matchup @ 888sport
