Competition: Jia League

Market: Shijiazhuang Gongfu win

Odds: 20/21 @ BetUS

In what is a crucial showdown at the top of the Jia League standings, Shijiazhuang Gongfu will welcome Guangxi Pingguo Haliao to town on Wednesday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Shijiazhuang might eventually fallen short in their bid to punch a top-two finish last season, Zhou Lin’s men haven’t shown any signs of a hangover this time around. Last seen over the weekend making a crucial return to winning ways as they landed a 2-1 victory away at Wuxi Wugou, the Blues now find themselves sat just three points adrift of breaking into the automatic promotion places here. Knowing that they face what could be a season-defining affair on Tuesday lunchtime, the Hebei-based outfit will be excited by their continued success on home soil. on a run that is highlighted by an action-packed 3-2 victory against Yanbian Longding last month, Shijiazhuang have mustered 10 points from just their previous four Jia League appearances in front of their own supporters. On a similar note, it should also be highlighted that the midweek hosts have lost just one of their last eight showdowns at the Yutong International Sports Center.

As for the visitors, although Guangxi might still have their sights set on mounting their own late promotion charge, Jiang Chen’s side are seeking some much-needed recent stability. Last seen over the weekend putting in another downbeat display as they were forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against Shenyang Urban, the Reds have now managed to muster just a single win from any of their previous four Jia League appearances. Now tipped as an outside contender to claim a top-two finish in 2023, the Baise-based outfit have also claimed just a pair of victories from their previous seven attempts – a run that stems back to July 22nd. Likewise, failing to secure back-to-back Jia League wins since the start of June, Chen’s inconsistent squad should face another tricky test in midweek. It should also be noted, gaining a reputation for their extended struggles on the road, Guangxi have landed just a sole victory on their travels over the past four months.
