Competition: Irish Premier Division

Market: Shelbourne double chance

Odds: 8/11 @ 888sport

Hoping to secure back-to-back Premier Division victories on Saturday night, Shelbourne will make the trip to the Showgrounds when they meet Sligo Rovers.

Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to losing ways last weekend thanks to a toothless 1-0 loss at home against Dundalk, Sligo are in the midst of what has been an extended inconsistent spell. Recording just a pair of wins from any of their last six Premier Division appearances – a run that stems back to April 7th – the Rovers are also yet to record back-to-back wins since opening the 2023 campaign. Facing what could be a tough test on Saturday night, Russell’s men are also seeking some much-needed stability on home soil. Including their 1-0 loss at the hands of Dundalk last time out, Sligo have won just one of their previous five showdowns at the Showgrounds. Dropping points against both Drogheda and Cork on that extended wobble, it should also be noted that Saturday’s hosts suffered a 2-1 defeat when they traveled to Tolka Park on April 10th.

As for the visitors, despite spending the majority of last season looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap, Shelbourne have shown plenty of improvements since opening the new Premier Division campaign. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they claimed a deserved 1-0 victory at home against local rivals UC Dublin, Damien Duff’s side are unbeaten in each of their last seven straight domestic appearances. With that impressive flurry stemming all the way back to March 31st, the one-time Chelsea forward should be smelling the chance for his side to make another statement on Saturday night. Taking points off of both Dundalk and Shamrock last month, Shelbourne should also be excited by that most recent meeting against Sligo. Claiming a 2-1 win when they welcomed a struggling Rovers to town on April 10th, we are backing an away double chance this weekend.

Bet: Shelbourne double chance against Sligo Rovers 8/11 for Saturday’s Irish Premier Division matchup @ 888sport
