Looking to book their spot in this season’s National League play-off final, Solihull Moors will welcome Chesterfield to Damson Park on Sunday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, managing to sign off their regular-season campaign with a thumping 3-0 win away at Boreham Wood, Solihull Moors find themselves in the midst of a real purple. Given an additional break heading into Sunday’s semi-final showdown, Neal Ardley’s side have gained a host of plaudits from across the National League this season. Breezing their way to another play-off finish this year, the Midlands-based outfit have now won each of their last five outings on the spin. Likewise, suffering just a single defeat since back on March 12th, Solihull have also found a real clinical edge in the final third. Along with a hugely impressive 3-0 romp at home against Bromley when opening May, Sunday’s hosts have now won each of those five National League matchups by an aggregate score of 15-4.
As for the visitors, while Chesterfield might have managed to snatch a shock play-off victory away at Halifax earlier in the week, the Spireites will know that they face a real task here. Winning just a pair of their last six matchups against National League opposition, it should also be noted that Paul Cook’s side signed off the 2021/22 campaign by showing some real issues on the road. Despite landing that hard-fought 2-1 win away at Halifax in their quarter-final showdown last time out, Chesterfield have lost each of their other three contests away from the Technique Stadium. Likewise, despite playing out a 1-1 draw when they faced off against Solihull back in November, they have failed to win any of their previous three meetings against Sunday’s hosts.
