Bitesize Prediction: Southampton vs Brighton – 04/12/21

Competition: Premier League

Market: Over 1.5 goals

Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport

Two sides who will be smelling the chance to pick up maximum points this weekend, Southampton will welcome Brighton to St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, after taking the lead twice at home against Leicester in midweek, there is no doubt that Southampton would have been disappointed to have had to settle for a single point on home soil. Eventually playing out a lively 2-2 draw against the Foxes, Ralph Hasenhüttl does find his side seeking a boost. While they might have entered the international break with back-to-back wins against Aston Villa and Watford, the one-time RB Leipzig boss has seen his side largely fail to build off of that boost. Including a 4-0 drumming away at Liverpool, Southampton have collected just a single point from their last three Premier League matchups. With that run also highlighted by a shock 2-1 defeat against Norwich on November 20th, Saturday’s hosts will know that they must start to tighten up at the back.

As for the visitors, managing to snatch what was a last-gasp equalizer away at West Ham earlier in the week, Brighton have really gained a reputation as a recent stalemate specialist. While the Seagulls might have opened the 2021/22 campaign with a settler run, Graham Potter’s men have largely failed to build off of their early-season flurry. In fact, now drawing four of their last five Premier League matchups, they have also failed to win any of their previous 10 matchups across all formats, a run that stems all the way back to September 22nd. Hoping to reignite their season at St. Mary’s on Saturday afternoon, Brighton will be boosted by their most recent trip to Southampton. Claiming a 2-1 victory when the two sides last faced off back in March, it should also be noted that each of the last four meetings have finished with over 1.5 goals.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Southampton vs Brighton 4/11 for Saturday’s Premier League contest @ 888sport
