Bitesize Prediction: Sparta Prague vs Galatasaray – 22/02/24

Competition: Europa League

Market: Both teams to score

Odds: 4/7 @ BetUS

With a Europa League quarter-final ticket still hanging in the balance, Sparta Prague will welcome Galatasaray to the Czech capital on Thursday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Sparta Prague might have eventually fallen to an action-packed 3-2 defeat in Greece last week, the Czech giants should still be smelling the chance to extend on their Europa League adventure here. Making an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against Liberec, Brian Priske’s side have continued to shine on either side of the festive break. In fact, the Maroons have won nine of their previous 10 competitive appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to a 2-1 defeat away at Rangers on November 9th. Signing off their group stage run with a 3-1 victory against Aris Limassol over the festive period, Sparta Prague have also gained a reputation for their lively outcomes. Including that five-goal thriller in Istanbul last week, Thursday’s hosts have seen four of their last five showdowns finish with both teams finding the net.

As for the visitors, snatching what was a stunning last-gasp 3-2 victory against Sparta last week, Galatasaray will be desperate to finish off the job here. Making real history last season as they claimed a 23rd Super Lig crown, Oken Buruk’s side are enjoying another extended flurry and they have continued to receive plenty of plaudits from across the continent. While the Turkish icons might have been disappointed back in December as they eventually fell short in their bid to book a Champions League knockout stage ticket, the Istanbul-based outfit have won all of their previous 10 straight appearances across all competitions. With that purple patch stemming all the way back to a 1-1 stalemate against Sivasspor on January 11th, it should also be highlighted that Galatasaray have not suffered a single defeat since opening the New Year. In a contest that could prove to be another thriller on Thursday night, we are expecting chances to come thick and fast here.
