Desperate to make an immediate return to winning ways on Friday night, Dundalk will make the trip to Richmond Park when they meet St. Patrick’s.
Starting with the hosts, managing to make an immediate return to winning ways last time out as they breezed their way to a 3-0 romp against Drogheda, St. Patrick’s will be looking to keep up that momentum here. With their sights now firmly set on trying to make a late charge for the European spots, Head Coach Tim Clancy will now be hoping for his side to find some stability. Bouncing back from their 2-1 loss against runaway leaders Shamrock Rovers on June 27th, the Reds have still won just a trio of their last nine domestic showdowns. Looking to claim back-to-back Premier Division victories here for the first time since April, St. Patrick’s should be boosted by an impressive record on home soil. Including that 3-0 win against Drogheda on July 1st, it should be noted that Clancy’s side have won three of their last four matchups at Richmond Park.
As for the visitors, coming off the back of what was a shock 1-0 loss away at Drogheda last weekend, Dundalk will be seeking an immediate response on Friday night. However, while Stephen O’Donnell’s men might have watched their stellar 11-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end last time out, the Lilywhites have still gained plenty of praise from across Ireland this season. Appearing to cruise their way to another European finish this season, the Whites should be boosted by their most recent meeting against St. Patrick’s. Landing a 1-0 win on home soil when the two sides faced off back on May 27th at Oriel Park, don’t be surprised to see a similar low-scoring affair here. It should be noted, with the last three meetings between Dundalk and St. Patrick’s producing just a pair of strikes, we’re backing what could be another cagey affair on Friday.
