Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: St. Patrick’s win
Odds: 4/11 @ 888sport
Desperate to try and find some stability when returning from the international break, St. Patrick’s will welcome UC Dublin to Richmond Park on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, last seen heading into the international break with a 1-0 loss away at Dundalk, St. Patrick’s will be looking to kickstart their campaign here. Now sat five points adrift of finding a route back into the European places, the Saints have also managed to win just one of their previous five Premier Division showdowns. Claiming what was a thumping 3-0 victory against Bohemians on May 23rd, Tim Clancy’s side will be desperate for a similar display on Friday night. However, with Dublin bragging rights up for grabs this weekend, St. Patrick’s should be boosted by their rather rampant record against their local rivals. Claiming a 2-1 win when the two sides faced off back in April, Clancy’s men have lost just one of their last 18 meetings against the relegation scrappers, a run that stems all the way back to 2011.
As for the visitors, while UC Dublin might have been last seen heading into the international break with a 1-1 draw at home against Sligo, Andrew Myler’s men are in the midst of another top-flight struggle. Sat rock-bottom of the Premier Division table and already 11 points adrift of safety, the Students have managed to muster just a single victory since opening the 2022 campaign. Knowing that they will face a huge task when they make the trip across Dublin on Friday night, the Blues have once again shown some extended issues at the back. Including a woeful 7-1 drumming at the hands of Derry City back on April 22nd, it should be highlighted that UC have already conceded 38 strikes in their 18 top-flight showdowns. Likewise, recording just a single victory against their local rivals over the past 11 years, it is hard to see anything other than a home victory here.
