Competition: League One

Market: Stevenage win

Odds: 19/20 @ BetUS

Hoping to shore up their spot in the play-off chase, Stevenage will welcome Reading to the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, although Stevenage might have only made their League One return this season, the Boro are enjoying what has been a real fairytale. Continuing to receive a string of public praise from across England’s third-tier, it is no secret that Steve Evans’ men have their sights firmly set on securing a shock play-off ticket in 2024. With the mood around the Lamex Stadium at a red-hot high, the former Gillingham boss will be calling on his squad to make another statement in midweek. Last seen over the weekend putting in another eye-catching display as they clinched a 1-0 victory against Blackpool, the Hertfordshire-based outfit have now won all of their previous three League One appearances on the bounce. With their recent flurry underlined by an action-packed 3-2 victory away at Wigan, Stevenage have also gained a fearsome reputation for their extended success on home soil. Including signing off 2023 with a 3-0 romp against Northampton, Tuesday’s hosts are unbeaten in all of their last 10 straight contests at the Lamex Stadium – a purple patch that stems all the way back to October 10th.

As for the visitors, dealing with a string of public financial issues behind the scenes, Reading find themselves at the heart of a nightmare. With a host of sanctions still hanging over their heads, Ruben Selles’ side are now scrapping it out in a League One relegation scrap and fighting to keep hold of their third-tier status. While the Royals might have been last seen over the weekend snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at Oxford, the Berkshire-based outfit have struggled to find any kind of stability this year. Winning just a trio of their previous 12 appearances across all competitions – a run that stems back to – December 6th – Reading should be bracing themselves for another stern examination here. Likewise, along with crashing out of the EFL Trophy on January 9th after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brighton’s U21s, the Royals have continued to show some glaring struggles on the road. In fact, Selles’ side have claimed just a sole victory away from the Madejski from their previous 13 attempts, we are expecting a home win on Tuesday night.

Bet: Stevenage 19/20 to beat Reading in Tuesday’s League One battle @ BetUS
