Competition: League One
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 3/4 @ Pribet
Looking to skyrocket their way into the automatic promotion places on Saturday afternoon, Wrexham will travel to Edgeley Road when they meet Stockport.
Starting with the hosts, while Stockport might have stormed their way to a sensational 5-0 romp at home against Bolton last weekend, Dave Challinor’s men failed to use that performance as a platform to build on. Eventually falling to a 2-0 loss against Tranmere as they turned their attention back to EFL Trophy action, it is no secret that the Hatters are seeking some recent stability. Coming under real scrutiny earlier in the month as they slumped to a 5-0 drumming at home against Wycombe, the Manchester-based outfit have won just a pair of their previous nine appearances across all competitions within 90 minutes. Despite extending on their FA Cup adventure on November 2nd as they secured a nail-biting 2-1 win against Forest Green, Stockport have shown some extended defensive issues. Aside from that 5-0 victory against Bolton last weekend, that is the only clean sheet that Challinor’s camp have recorded over the past six weeks.
As for the visitors, although Wrexham might have only continued on a public fairytale since making their League One return this season, the Dragons are in the midst of a recent wobble. Suffering an EFL Trophy collapse away at Port Vale earlier in the week, Phil Parkinson’s men have come tumbling out the automatic promotion places. Watching their FA Cup adventure come to an abrupt end on November 3rd as they fell to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Harrogate, the former Bolton boss has seen his squad win just one of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Signing off October with a frantic 2-2 stalemate against Charlton, Wrexham are desperately seeking some kind of stability away from the Racecourse Ground. In fact, Parkinson’s side have recorded just a single victory on their travels since the end of August. In a contest that tends to produce plenty of fireworks, we are backing another enjoyable contest here.
