Competition: Ligue 1
Market: PSG win
Odds: 11/10 @ 888sport
Reclaiming their Ligue 1 title last weekend, PSG will make the trip to the Stade de la Meinau on Friday night when they face off against Strasbourg.
Starting with the hosts, while Strasbourg might have gained plenty of plaudits from across France this season, they are coming off the back of a downbeat display. Eventually getting hit with a sluggish 1-0 loss away at Lille, Head Coach Julien Stéphan has seen his side win just one of their previous four matchups across all formats. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat a single point adrift of breaking into the top-six, fans around the Stade de la Meinau should still be boosted by their side’s continued success on home soil. Including victories against the likes of Rennes and Monaco on either side of March’s international break, Strasbourg are unbeaten in each of their previous seven contests in Alsace, a run that stems all the way back to December 12th. Despite a worrying record against this season’s champions, Stéphan’s side could be smelling a chance here.
As for the visitors, while PSG might have reclaimed their Ligue 1 crown last weekend, it is fair to say that the mood in their camp remains fragile. With growing speculation that Mauricio Pochettino will soon be on his way out of the French capital, the one-time Tottenham boss has still seen his side enjoy a largely impressive run over the past month. Despite being last seen playing out a 1-1 draw at home against Lens, the French giants have still picked up 13 points form their last five top-flight contests. Looking to avoid a banana skin on the road here, PSG should be boosted by a rather rampant record against Strasbourg. Including an action-packed 4-2 victory when they welcomed Friday’s hosts to the Parc des Princes back on August 14th, they have won their last four meetings against the European contenders, scoring 13 strikes.
