Looking to sign off their Bundesliga fairytale with another statement, Stuttgart will welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the MHP Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Stuttgart might have only just about clung to their Bundesliga status last season, Die Roten have enjoyed a famous fairytale this time around. Storming their way to an iconic Champions League return, Sebastian Hoeneß’s men have continued to receive a string of plaudits from across the continent this year. Opening May with another stunning performance as they claimed a 3-1 victory at home against German giants Bayern Munich, the former Hoffenheim boss has seen his squad suffer just a single defeat from any of their previous 15 consecutive Bundesliga appearances. With that extended purple patch stemming all the way back to January 20th, Stuttgart will be looking to make a final weekend statement here. Collecting a bronze medal finish among Germany’s elite this season, Saturday’s hosts have also continued to shine with their success on home soil. In fact, Hoeneß’s men have not suffered a single domestic defeat at the MHPArena since the end of October.
As for the visitors, although Borussia Monchengladbach might have just about dragged themselves over the finishing line, the Foals have endured another Bundesliga struggle this season. Last seen settling for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Eintracht Frankfurt, Gerardo Seoane’s men have failed to muster a single victory from any of their previous five top-flight appearances. Likewise, despite claiming an eye-catching 3-1 win away at Wolfsburg last month, that is the only Bundesliga victory that Saturday’s guests have collected from any of their last 11 matchups across all competitions. With that extended wobble stemming all the way back to February 24th, Gladbach have also shown some extended struggle away from Borussia-Park. Crashing out of the DFP Pokal on March 12th following a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of third-tier outfit Saarbrucken, the one-time Bayer Leverkusen boss has seen his squad muster just a single win on their travels since the end of September.
