Hoping to extend their buffer in the top-half chase, Sydney will welcome Adelaide to the Allianz Stadium on Saturday morning.

Starting with the hosts, although many in Sydney’s camp might have already accepted that they face a major uphill battle in their bid to claim a sixth A-League crown in 2024, the Australian heavyweights are enjoying an extended flurry. Last seen putting in a rampant performance as they stormed their way to a 3-1 victory away at Central Coast, Ufuk Talay’s men should find the mood in his squad at a season-high. Really finding their stride on either side of opening up the New Year, the Sky Blues have lost just one of their previous eight appearances – a run that stems back to December 16th. With their recent purple patch underlined by a 4-0 win against Newcastle last month, Sydney have continued to shine with their displays on home soil. In fact, Saturday’s hosts have collected 12 points from their last five A-League showdowns at the Allianz Stadium. It should also be noted, the former Australian champions have notched 14 goals in those five consecutive appearances in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, while Adelaide might have sprung a real A-League shock last season as they secured a bronze medal finish, the Reds have struggled to find a similar level this time around. Last seen eventually having to settle for an action-packed 3-3 stalemate at home against Perth, Carl Veart’s side have claimed just a single victory from any of their previous seven appearances. Opening February with a nightmare performance at Coopers Stadium as they slumped to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of Central Coast, Saturday’s guests have certainly gained a reputation for their extended issues at the back. In fact, along with shipping seven goals in their back-to-back A-League showdown, Adelaide have also failed to muster a sole clean sheet from any of their last 14 straight outings – a run that stems all the way back to October 29th. Likewise, losing all of their previous four away fixtures by an aggregate score of 8-3, we are backing a home victory this weekend.

Bet: Syndey 7/10 to beat Adelaide United in Saturday’s A-League showdown @ 1xBet
