Looking to make it back-to-back National League South victories on Tuesday night, Tonbridge will welcome Chesham to Kent.
Starting with the hosts, making an immediate return to winning ways last weekend as they secured a 2-1 victory against Aveley, Tonbridge will be looking for a repeat display here. Signing off November with an eye-catching 1-0 win against Weymouth, Jay Saunders’ men have certainly turned a recent corner over the past month. Finding a route into the top-half of the National League South table and desperate to make up some ground in the play-off chase, the Kent-based outfit have lost just one of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Smelling a golden opportunity in midweek, the Blues will also be excited by their overall success on home soil. Including a 2-0 victory against Hemel Hempstead last month, Tonbridge have won four of their last six showdowns in front of their own supporters. It should also be noted, continuing on from last season, Saunders’ side have suffered just a pair of defeats at the Longed Stadium since the start of April.
As for the visitors, putting in a nightmare performance over the weekend as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Boreham Wood, Chesham find themselves in the midst of a recent struggle. Watching their FA Trophy adventure come to an end last week as they fell to an action-packed 3-2 loss against Salisbury, the Generals have lost each of their previous three appearances across all formats. Tumbling their way down the National League South standings, the Clarets have drastically struggled to find any kind of stability. Opening December with a 3-1 defeat at home against Hornchurch, age Buckinghamshire-based outfit have also shown some glaring defensive struggles. Losing their previous three showdowns by an aggregate score of 9-3, Chesham have shipped a trio of goals in each of those three consecutive defeats. It should also be noted, Tuesday’s guests have recorded just a pair of National League South clean sheets so far this season.
