In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from Plainmoor on Saturday afternoon, Dagenham & Redbridge will make the trip to Torquay.
Starting with the hosts, while Torquay might have come from behind away at Gateshead last weekend as they claimed a hard-fought 1-1 draw, Gary Johnson’s men find themselves at the heart of a National League relegation scrap. Currently sat six points adrift of finding a route out of the drop zone, the former Yeovil boss has seen his struggling squad claim just a pair of points from their last seven fifth-tier appearances. Likewise, getting just a single point on the board since the end of January, the Gulls have continued to show some rather glaring defensive struggles. On a run that is highlighted by a lively 3-2 loss at the hands of Solihull Moors on March 7th, Torquay have recorded just two clean sheets since the start of December. However, it should be noted, Saturday’s hosts have remarkably seen each of their last 11 straight showdowns finish with both teams finding the net.
As for the visitors, suffering late heartbreak on home soil last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Oldham, Dagenham & Redbridge are seeking some much-needed stability. Although Ben Strevens’ side might have claimed a 2-1 victory against York last month, the Daggers have claimed just a single win from any of their last four National League appearances. Also showing their own defensive issues and failing to muster a clean sheet since way back on January 10th, the former Eastleigh boss finds his side firmly sat in fifth-tier limbo. Hit for four at the hands of a high-flying Wrexham earlier in the month, Saturday’s guests have also lost four of their previous five showdowns outside of the capital. However, with Dagenham & Redbridge seeing six of their last seven National League matchups finish with both teams finding the net, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
Bet: Both teams to score at Torquay vs Dagenham & Redbridge 7/10 for Saturday’s National League battle @ 888sport
