Competition: Ligue 1

Market: Lyon win

Odds: 4/5 @ 888sport

Hoping to clinch back-to-back Ligue 1 victories on Saturday evening, Lyon will make the trip to the Stade de l’Aube when they meet Troyes.

Starting with the hosts, while Troyes might have been last seen snatching a rugged 1-1 draw at home against a high-flying Lens, Patrick Kisnorbo’s men have continued to show a string of issues on either side of the World Cup break. Slipping down the Ligue 1 standings and once again looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, the Blues have recorded just a single win from any of their last 13 domestic matchups across all formats. With that woeful run of form stemming all the way back to September 18th, the former Melbourne City boss will also have an extended headache over his side’s defensive struggles. On a rut that is highlighted by a 5-1 drumming at the hands of Lille on January 15th, it should be highlighted that Troyes have just a single Ligue 1 clean sheet to their name over the past eight months.

As for the visitors, while Lyon might still find themselves in a real uphill struggle if they’re to claim a European return in 2023, Les Gones are enjoying somewhat of a recent boost. Last seen putting in a professional display as they claimed a 2-0 victory away at AC Ajaccio, Laurent Blanc will be calling on his side to lay down another marker here. Likewise, extending on their Coupe de France adventure last month as they cruised their way to a 3-0 romp against lower-league Chambery, the Whites have now lost just one of their last five domestic matchups across all formats. Keeping a clean sheet in three of their previous four appearances, Lyon will also be boosted by their most recent meeting against Saturday’s hosts. Claiming a 4-1 victory when they welcomed Troyes to the Groupama Stadium back in August, we’re expecting a similar away win.

Bet: Lyon 4/5 to beat Troyes in Saturday’s Ligue 1 battle @ 888sport
