Competition: Serie A
Market: Udinese win
Odds: 8/15 @ 888sport
Looking to make a return to winning ways on Monday evening, Udinese will welcome an all-but-relegated Sampdoria to the Stadio Friuli.
Starting with the hosts, while Udinese might have managed to muster just a single win from any of their last six Serie A appearances, the Friulians should be boosted by a rugged display earlier in the week. Eventually picking up a deserved point at home against newly-crowned Serie A champions Napoli, Andrea Sottil’s men still have their sights set on clinching a top-half finish. Sat just two points adrift of breaking into the top-10, the former Ascoli boss should be excited by his side’s extended success on home soil. Signing off April by storming their way to a 3-0 romp against Cremonese, Udinese are unbeaten in each of their last seven straight showdowns at the Stadio Friuli – a run that stems all the way back to January 15th. Picking up a 1-0 win when they traveled to Monday’s guests for their reverse Serie A meeting earlier in the year, Udinese will be seeking a similar display here.
As for the visitors, putting in another nightmare display earlier in the week as they slumped to a 2-0 loss at home against Torino, Dejan Stankovic’s side are free-falling out of Serie A this season. Only continuing on what has been a woeful run of form and sat 10 points adrift of top-flight safety, La Samp are in need of what would be a famous miracle. Signing off April with a 5-0 drumming at the hands of Fiorentina, Monday’s guests have remarkably claimed just a single victory from any of their last 18 straight domestic appearances. With that woeful spell stemming all the way back to January 4th, Sampdoria have shown a string of rather glaring issues at both ends of the pitch. Suffering that 1-0 defeat when they welcomed Udinese to Genoa on April 22nd, it should be noted that Stankovic’s men have lost back-to-back Serie A meetings against the top-half contenders.
