Two sides who are firmly battling it out at the foot of the Serie A standings, Udinese will welcome Verona to the Stadio Friuli on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Udinese might have sprung a major Serie A upset back on November 4th as they secured a stunning 1-0 victory away at AC Milan, it appears that was nothing more than a minor boost for Gabriele Cioffi’s side. Marking their return from November’s international break with a routine 3-1 loss at the hands of Italian giants Roma, the Friulani’s are firmly looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap. Holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, the one-time Crawley boss has seen his squad muster just a single win from any of their first 13 Serie A appearances this season. Likewise, crashing out of the Coppa Italia on November 1st as they suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Cagliari, Udinese have gained a reputation for their extended defensive issues. Along with signing off September with a 4-1 drumming against Napoli, Cioffi’s men have also failed to muster a single clean sheet in front of their own supporters over the past three months.

As for the visitors, while Verona might have managed to drag themselves to Serie A safety last season, the Mastiffs are enduring another public top-flight struggle. Despite marking their return from November’s international break with a lively 2-2 stalemate at home against Leece, it is no secret that Sunday’s guests are tipped as a landslide relegation contender this time around. Mustering just nine points from their first 13 Serie A appearances, Marco Baroni’s men have come crashing back down to earth following their eye-catching start to proceedings. With their recent issues underlined by a 3-1 drumming at home against Monza last month, Verona are without a win from any of their previous 12 straight appearances across all competitions. With that run stemming all the way back to a stellar 2-1 victory against Roma on August 26th, we could be set for a nervy affair here. However, with each of the last five showdowns between Sunday’s opponents finishing with over 1.5 goals, we are expecting a similar outcome at the Stadio Friuli.

Bet: Over 1.5 goals at Udinese vs Verona 2/5 for Sunday’s Serie A showdown @ Pribet
