In an MLS showdown that could see chances come at both ends of the pitch, Vancouver will welcome Real Salt Lake to BC Place in the early hours of Sunday.
Starting with the hosts, while Vancouver might still find themselves battling it out at the foot of the Western Conference, they are enjoying a much-welcomed boost. Last seen picking up a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Sporting KC, Head Coach Vanni Sartini should find the mood around BC Place at a recent high. Looking to move just a single point off the play-off places this weekend, the Canadian-based outfit have lost just one of their last seven matchups across all formats. With their recent purple patch stemming all the way back to April 24th, Vancouver have also continued to shine on home soil. Last seen in front of their own supporters picking up a 2-1 victory against Dallas earlier in the month, Sartini’s men are unbeaten in British Columbia in their last four outings, recording three victories.
As for the visitors, last seen earlier in the week when putting in another stellar display, Real Salt Lake also find themselves enjoying a real purple patch. Eventually cruising their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Houston, Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni has seen his side gain a host of plaudits from across the MLS this year. Along with winning each of their last three contests on the spin, they have also collected 12 points from their last five appearances. Firmly battling it out at the top of the Western Conference, RSL have also really found a clinical edge in the final third. Now racking up seven strikes on their three-match winning run, this weekend’s guests will be desperate to lay down another marker here. However, with Salt Lake recording just a single clean sheet on the road since the end of February, we’re backing chances at both ends here.
