Competition: Brazil Serie A

Market: Vasco win

Odds: 8/13 @ BetUS

Hoping to claim back-to-back Serie A victories late on Thursday night, Vasco will welcome Coritiba to the Sao Januario.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a rampant performance over the weekend as they landed a 4-2 victory at home against Fluminense, Vasco are enjoying a recent flurry. While Ramon Diaz’s men might have only made their Serie A return this season, the Admirals are desperate to extend on their top-flight status this time around. Opening the midweek fixtures sat five points adrift of safety, the rio de Janerio-based outfit will know that they face another crucial showdown here. However, with their eye-catching resurge underlined by a stellar 1-0 win against top-four contenders Gremio last month, Vasco have suffered just a single defeat from their previous six Serie A appearances. Smelling the chance to lay down another marker in midweek, Diaz’s side will also be excited by their continued success on home soil. In fact, including last weekend’s 4-2 victory against Fluminense, Thursday’s hosts have won each of their last three contests at the Sao Januario by an aggregate score of 6-2.

As for the visitors, only continuing on a nightmare run this season, it is no secret that Coritiba are tipped as a landslide relegation contender this time around. Opening Thursday’s showdown sat rock-bottom of the Serie A table and already 11 points adrift of safety, Thiago Kosloski’s side were last seen putting in another woeful display. Eventually slumping to an action-packed 4-2 defeat at home against Bahia last weekend, the Coxa have lost each of their previous six top-flight appearances and they have gained a reputation for their glaring issues on the road. Including a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Botafogo on July 30th, it is worth highlighting that Coritiba have shipped a staggering 18 strikes on their six-match losing run. Hit with a 2-1 loss when they last travelled to the Sao Januario for a Serie B showdown back in October 2021, we are expecting a similar outcome late on Thursday night.
