Two sides who find themselves battling it out at the top of the Serie B table, Vitoria will welcome Criciuma to the Barradao on Sunday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Vitoria might have only made their Serie B return this season, Leo Conde’s men have certainly come flying out of the traps since opening the 2023. Last seen putting in another eye-catching display as they secured a 2-1 win away at Tombense, the mood around Barradao appears to be at a red-hot high. Opening June with a thumping display as they cruised their way to a 3-0 romp at home against Ituano, the Bahia-based outfit have collected 10 points from their last four second-tier appearances. Sat at the top of the Serie B table and holding a two-point buffer over the chasing pack, Vitoria should be confident of making another statement here. Enjoying what has been a stellar purple patch, Conde’s side have also continued to shine with their performances on home soil. In fact, on a run that stems all the way back to February 26th, it should be noted that Sunday’s hosts have won four of their last five showdowns at the Barradao.

As for the visitors, making an immediate return to losing ways earlier in the week as they slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss at home against Juventude, Criciuma are seeking some much-needed stability. Despite enjoying their own bright start to the 2023 campaign, Claudio Tencati’s side have now won just a pair of their previous six Serie B appearances – a run that stems back to May 6th. Likewise, without a win from their last three straight contests away from Heriberto Hulse, the Tigers should also be worried by a downbeat record against Sunday’s hosts. Including a 2-0 loss they last time they travelled to the Barradao back in July 2019, Criciuma have failed to win any of their previous seven meetings against the Serie B leaders over the past decade.
