Two sides who have their sights set on punching a play-off ticket this season, Western Sydney will welcome Macarthur to the CommBank Stadium on Sunday morning.

Starting with the hosts, suffering what was an infamous late collapse away at their arch-rivals last week as they eventually had to settle for a remarkable 3-3 stalemate, Western Sydney are desperately seeking some recent stability. While the Wanderers might have signed off 2024 by collecting 10 points from their final four A-League appearances, Alen Stajcic’s men have largely come crashing back down to earth since opening the New Year. Despite landing a 2-1 victory away at Perth last month, that is just the second A-League win that Western Sydney have collected from any of their previous seven showdowns. With that rut stemming back to an action-packed 3-2 victory against Adelaide on December 27th, Sunday’s hosts have also continued to show some worrying issues on home soil. Including a 3-1 drumming at the hands of Central Coast last month, Stajcic’s camp have lost all of their previous three A-League matchups at the CommBank Stadium by an aggregate score of 7-3.

As for the visitors, while Macarthur might open this weekend’s fixtures clinging onto their spot in the play-off places, the Bulls find themselves sat in an almost identical position to Sunday’s opponents. Forced to settle for a thrilling 2-2 stalemate at home against Western United last time out, Mile Sterjovski’s men have failed to find any kind of fluidity since opening 2025. Getting February underway with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of title contenders Auckland, the one-time Derby striker has seen his squad must just a single victory from any of their previous four A-League appearances. Now firmly looking over their shoulder, Macarthur have continued to show some real defensive struggles. Including another 2-1 defeat against Wellington last month, Sunday’s guests have conceded a pair of goals in four of their previous six A-League outings. However, despite recording just a single clean sheet is far this calendar year, Sterjovski’s side will be excited by their most recent battle against the Wanderers. It should be noted, Macarthur landed a 3-2 win when they welcomed Western Sydney to the Campbelltown Stadium on New Year’s Day.

Bet: Goal to be scored in both halves at Western Sydney Wanderers vs Macarthur FC 1/2 for Sunday’s A-League matchup @ 1xBet
