Bitesize Prediction: Wolfsburg vs Lille – 08/12/21

Competition: Champions League

Market: Lille double chance

Odds: 7/10 @ 888sport

Sat in pole position to book their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Champions League, Lille will make the trip to a struggling Wolfsburg on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Wolfsburg might have gained plenty of plaudits from across Germany last season, the Wolves are in the midst of what has been an extended blip. Only showing a host of issues on either side of November’s international break, the pressure is really on Florian Kohfeldt’s shoulders. Last seen over the weekend putting in a nightmare display on the road, the Greens were hit with a dreadful 3-0 drumming away at Mainz. Without a win from any of their last four matchups across all formats, including three defeats on the spin, Wolfsburg will also have a headache over their problems at both ends of the pitch. Last seen on Champions League duties getting hit with a 2-0 defeat away at Spanish outfit Sevilla on foreign soil, Kohfeldt’s’ men could face a stern test here.

As for the visitors, while Lille might have opened the 2021/22 campaign with a worrying run of form, Les Dogues do appear to have put those issues behind them. Last seen over the weekend picking up a 2-1 win against Troyes on home soil, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men are unbeaten in their last seven contests, a run that stems back to October 23rd. Sat in pole position to book their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Champions League and holding a one-point buffer over the chasing pack, the defending Ligue 1 champions should be confident of finishing off the job on Wednesday night. Last seen on foreign soil claiming an eye-catching 2-1 win away at Sevilla last month, they also have one attacking talisman enjoying his own free-scoring run. With Jonathan David racking up 11 goals so far this season, a double chance appears at attractive odds here.
