Two sides who are still dreaming of the chance to punch a European ticket in 2024, Wolves will welcome West Ham Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while Wolves might have gained plenty of plaudits this season following their impressive run under Gary O’Neil, the Midlands-based outfit do have the feel of a squad seeking some recent stability. Last seen earlier in the week eventually settling for a 1-1 stalemate away at relegation scrappers Burnley, the former Bournemouth boss has seen his squad win just one of their previous five appearances across all competitions. However, despite failing to collect back-to-back victories since the end of February, Wolves will be excited to make a return to Molineux here. Although O’Neil’s men might have suffered major FA Cup heartbreak against Championship outfit Coventry last month as they fell to a 3-2 loss, they have won all of their previous three home fixtures against Premier League opposition. It should also be highlighted, Wolves have lost just a trio of their last 15 showdowns in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to September 16th.
As for the visitors, although West Ham might have secured a Europa League quarter-final spot last month, the Hammers have struggled to find any kind of stability since opening the New Year. Marking their return from March’s international break with an infamous collapse against Newcastle as they fell to a 4-3 loss at St. James’ Park, David Moyes has found some increasing scrutiny over his future at the London Stadium. In fact, the former Manchester United boss has seen his squad win just a pair of their previous 12 Premier League appearances – a run that stems all the way back to December 28th. Continuing to show some extended defensive issues and currently holding the fifth-worse defensive tally among England’s elite, Moyes’ men have also gained a reputation for their issues on the road. Along with losing four of their last five showdowns outside of east London, West Ham have collected just a single away victory in 2024.
