Competition: League One

Market: Wrexham win

Odds: 8/15 @ Pribet

Hoping to climb to the top of the League One table on Saturday afternoon, Wrexham will welcome Shrewsbury to the Racecourse Ground.

Starting with the hosts, while Wrexham might have only made their League One return this season, the Red Dragons have continued on what has become an iconic fairytale. Once again flying out of the traps this time around and already pencilled in as another leading promotion contender, Phil Parkinson’s men will be looking to make another statement here. Handed the chance to climb to the top of the League One table on Saturday afternoon, the former Bolton boss finds the mood in his camp at a red-hot high. Last seen putting in another stellar display as they clinched a 2-0 victory away at Peterborough, Wrexham have collected 10 points from their opening four third-tier appearances. With their early purple patch underlined by a 3-0 romp against Reading on August 24th, Saturday’s hosts have also gained plenty of plaudits for their defensive resolve. In fact, Parkinson’s high-flying squad have recorded a clean sheet in all of their last three matchups on the bounce.

As for the visitors, managing to make a much-welcomed return to winning ways last weekend as they secured a 3-0 victory at home against Leyton Orient, Shrewsbury will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, at the heart of a League One relegation scrap last season and only just about keeping hold of their third-tier status, Paul Hurst’s side are desperately seeking some crucial stability. Getting their EFL Trophy adventure underway last month with a 2-1 defeat against Fulham’s U21s, Shrewsbury have lost four of their previous five appearances across all competitions. Getting proceedings underway with a 1-0 loss against Stevenage, Saturday’s guests have shown some glaring issues away from New Meadow. In fact, continuing on from their summer preparations, the Shrews have lost all of their last three showdowns outside of Shropshire by a score of 1-0. Two sides scrapping it out at opposite ends of the table, we are backing a home victory here.
