Italian forward Christian Vieri had his trial with Blackburn Rovers extended as the player aims to earn a contract at the English club.

The 36-year-old former Juventus and Internazionale striker is a free agent since leaving Atalanta this summer. During his trial in England, he left a positive impression which caused Blackburn to extend the player’s stay and invite him to join the club on its Italy tour.

“We’ll see how long he wants to give it to see if he can get to Premier League level,” Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce said. “We’ll take as long as it needs, hopefully to get there in the end.”

Vieri began his career in 1989 and has since represented a large amount of clubs, including Torino, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Inter, Milan, Monaco and Fiorentina. The player represented Atalanta last season but made only nine appearances, scoring twice.
