Blackburn scouting Serbian star Zigic

Blackburn are believed to have sent scouts to watch Valencia star Nikola Zigic on the weekend, according to Sky Sports.

Zigic has long been the target of numerous Premiership clubs and was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League both in January and last summer.

The Serbian striker is currently on loan at fellow La Liga side Racing Santander where has netted 5 goals in 7 games, scoring on the weekend in the club’s 1-1 draw against high-flying Villarreal.

Despite the fact that Zigic is scoring freely in the La Liga, Valencia coach Unai Emery has made it clear that the 28-year-old will not feature in any future plans and is free to leave the club in the summer.

Zigic joined Valencia in 2007 from Racing Santander for a deal believed to be worth €20 million, although the club are now said to value the striker at around half that price. The Serbian is one of the tallest strikers to play top flight football and has long been seen as ideally suited to the Premier League with is physical style of play.
