Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has admitted that Manchester United are ready to make a bid for him according to Sky Sports.
The Paraguayan hit top form in his first season at Ewood Park, scoring 23 goals in 42 games after joining from German giants Bayern Munich.
Santa Cruz was signed for the German side after impressive for Olimpia Asuncion and the Paraguay national team. However, an injury ravaged time at Allianz Arena and heavy competition up-front led to limited chances for the star.
At 25-years-old Santa Cruz is still a relatively young player for a striker with such international recognition and after proving his worth in the Premiership the Paraguayan could prove to be a quality signing for any club.
Santa Cruz told Argentinian newspaper La Nacion: “The interest from Manchester United is real but I’m busy now so my representatives will handle anything if there is a concrete offer.”
Although Manchester United appear to be in the lead for the striker, they may now face serious competition from their local rivals, Manchester City. After City appointed former Blackburn boss Mark Hughes this week it could be possible that Hughes will look to bring Santa Cruz to Eastlands with him.
