Swiss international midfielder Blerim Dzemaili wants to leave MLS side Montreal Impact after only joining the Canadian club in May.
The 31-year-old Bologna midfielder has impressed during his loan spell at Montreal Impact, having scored 8 goals and provided 12 assists in 25 games for his new club.
The MLS outfit is keen on extending the loan deal for another year but Dzemaili has no plans to remain in Canada.
His parent club Bologna have confirmed that Dzemaili has asked for permission to leave Montreal and return to Serie A this winter. Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio claims the Italian club are now waiting on a response from Montreal Impact, who have changed their coach and are yet to reach the final decision on Dzemaili’s future.
The Swiss international is said to be homesick and missing Italy, which has been stated as the main reason for his desire to return to Serie A.
Bologna and Montreal Impact are run by the same man, Italian-Canadian Joey Saputo, which should facilitate the decision-making process in Dzemaili’s case.
