Premier League new-boys Hull have a agreed a transfer fee with Middlesbrough for Dutch midfielder George Boateng.

The Tigers appear to have beaten Stoke in the race for Boateng, who is valued at around three million pounds (3.7 million euros) by Middlesbrough.

Boateng, 32, will now discuss personal terms with Hull manager Phil Brown, who confirmed the deal is on course.

“The deal between ourselves and Middlesbrough has been agreed,” Brown told BBC Radio Humberside.

“It's now just a matter of fine-tuning the deal between us and George and that's a process that does take time.”

Boateng, who has been looking for a new club since being told he could not be guaranteed first-team football at the Riverside, will become Hull's third signing since their Championship play-off final win over Bristol City.

Brown has already swooped for former Manchester City midfielder Geovanni and Derby winger Craig Fagan.
