Jerome Boateng is delighted that Mario Gotze will be joining Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
In a transfer that has rocked German football, it emerged earlier this week that Bayern had activated the 20-year-old’s release clause of 37 million euros (31 million pounds) to sign him from rivals Borussia Dortmund in the close season.
Boateng believes the Germany international playmaker has made the right choice to make the switch from Signal Iduna Park to the Allianz Arena, as the newly crowned champions are the “biggest club in Germany”.
“I think Mario is one of the most talented German players … so for me it [the transfer] is a logical consequence,” the former Manchester City defender added.
The 24-year-old went on to say that Bayern are taking nothing for granted in terms of their passage to the UEFA Champions League final, despite the fact they beat Barcelona 4-0 in the home leg of their semi-final last Tuesday.
“I think we’re happy with the victory but we’ll have to go Barcelona and pass the test there,” Boateng stated.
