(GSM) – Four days after being rained out, Boca Juniors returned to the pitch at La Bombonera to defeat archrival River Plate, 2-0.

The match – initially scheduled for Sunday – had to be called off after less than 10 minutes due to torrential rainfall at the stadium.

The game resumed on Thursday with Gary Medel putting the home side in front in the 14th minute with his third goal of the Clausura tournament.

River Plate seemed dazed by the opener, and Boca played one of their better matches of the tournament in this one.

Medel bagged a second goal in the 49th minute from which River never recovered, but the Chilean striker did not see the finish after earning his second booking 15 minutes from time.
