Argentine behemoths Boca Juniors have approached Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with a shock transfer offer.
The experienced shot stopper is out of contract this summer and the Xeneizes want to grab him on a multimillion short-term deal, the Argentine sources can confirm.
The club coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has moved on to confirm the rumours by revealing that Boca Juniors indeed want to sign the Juventus goalkeeper.
Buffon had been expected to retire at the end of the season with Italy missing out on the World Cup but has recently hinted he could continue playing for another season and it is suggested his former teammate Carlos Tevez could play a part in persuading him to move to Argentina.
Various Argentine media outlets are reporting that Boca Juniors already have an offer in place, adding that Buffon is expected to reach his decision on 17 May.
Boca Juniors have presented the Italian custodian with a five-month proposition worth $2.5 million – around $500,000 a month and $20,000 a day – which would make him the highest paid player in the country.
