Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Bohemians win
Odds: 6/5 @ 888sport
Looking to extend on their charge for the top-three this weekend, Bohemians will make the trip to Head In The Game Park when they face off against Drogheda on Friday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Drogheda might have managed to pick up a 2-1 victory away at Dundalk last month, Tim Clancy’s men would have been disappointed to have failed to build off of that result. Eventually having to settle for a 0-0 stalemate against a struggling Sligo Rovers last weekend, they now almost find themselves stuck in Premier Division limbo. Despite only making their top-flight return earlier in the year, the Drogs have managed to win just one of their last eight matchups across all formats, a run that stems back to July 2nd. With that run also highlighted by a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Derry City last month, Drogheda should also be worried by their most recent meeting against this weekend’s guests. When the two sides last faced off back in June, they were hit with a 5-0 defeat on their travels.
As for the visitors, while Bohemians would have been devastated to have seen their European adventure come to an end against PAOK last month, Keith Long’s men have largely managed to bounce back. Still with their sights set on making a late charge for the top-three, last year’s silver medalists were last seen picking up another morale boost. Extending on their FAI Cup run thanks to an impressive 2-1 win against defending champions Shamrock Rovers, fans around Phibsborough should be smelling a chance on the road this weekend. Also, last seen on Premier Division duties pickup up a deserved 1-0 victory against Sligo Rovers on home soil, Bohemians have lost just a pair of their last 10 top-flight showdowns. Hitting Drogheda for five when the two sides last faced off back in June, we’re backing a similar away win here.
