(GSM) – Bojan Krkic has expressed relief after breaking his scoring duck for the season in Barcelona’s 8-0 demolition of Almería on Saturday evening.
The 20-year-old, who scored twice at Estadio del Mediterráneo, admits that it is a weight off his shoulders.
“It always helps your confidence to get off the mark,” he told www.fcbarcelona.com. “It was a bit of a liberation for me and it gave me a real boost of confidence and calmed my nerves.”
Barça’s next assignment will be a UEFA Champions League clash at Panathinaikos, but while coach Pep Guardiola tried to keep his players’ minds on the task in hand, the rest of Spain is already looking forward to next Monday’s Clasico against Real Madrid.
“Wednesday is a key game for us. The Madrid game will come around soon enough,” said Bojan.
“(Pana) are a hard team and they’ll make it hard for us. We are playing for the top spot in the group.”
Bojan refused to be drawn into any verbal sparring ahead of next week’s top-of-the-table clash.
“The important thing isn’t what is said, it’s getting the points and what happens on the pitch on Monday,” he said. “We want the three points.
“The points against Madrid are important, but last season we took all six points and ended up winning the league by just one point, so you can see that in La Liga, any team can take points off you.”
Real, 5-1 winners over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, lead La Liga by one point.
