Bojan staying put; Pogba will not leave Juventus in January

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has insisted the club will not sell former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic during the January transfer window.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has insisted the club will not sell former Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic during the January transfer window.

Bojan, 24, joined the Potters on a four-year deal last summer, but has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.

However, according to Hughes, the former Spain Under-21 international is not for sale this month.

“He’s done exceptionally well. We knew it would take a little bit of time for him to get to grips with the Premier League and he’s done that,” said Hughes.

“He’s playing well. He’s a talented football player and I think he’s proving that in the Premier League.

“At this stage of his career that he’s had disappointments such as being sent out on loan by Barcelona, the disappointments he had in terms of his game time and maybe how he was treated in certain situations.

“So he’s come here and really embraced what we’re doing and I think he’s enjoying the environment that we can give him.

“I think he’s very happy. We have no intention of encouraging any interest in him.

“He’s a big part of what we want to do, so it’s a non-story.”

Bojan has bagged four goals and one assist in 16 English Premier League appearances for Stoke this season.

Pogba will not leave Juventus in January

The agent of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, Mino Raiola, has insisted the player will not leave Italy this month, but failed to rule out a move abroad when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

The France international, who left Manchester United for Juve in the summer of 2012, has established himself as one of the most prolific midfielders in Europe over the past two seasons.

United manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly keen to make a massive bid to lure the 21-year-old star back to Old Trafford in the near future, but it will not happen in January.

Raiola told Sky Sports News HQ: “Paul renewed his contract in Italy. There is a five-year deal with Juventus and what June and July brings, we will see in June and July.

“He will stay here this window in Italy and after that it’s also up to Juventus and up to himself to see what are the possibilities and what are the things to do.

“I have been in football long enough to say that I cannot foresee the future. Today Paul Pogba is the most expensive player if he would be on the market – that’s the risk, that’s normal; there are only a few clubs that can afford him.

“Let’s say that I am aware of the interest that there is around Paul, obviously, and without naming them, everybody that knows a little bit about football knows that there are only eight clubs that can afford him. That’s the eight clubs that will get into the scramble or the battle to have him.”

Pogba has tallied five goals and one assist in 16 Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri in 2014/15.
