Bolivian Miguel Angel Hoyos reportedly tested positive for a banned substance after a World Cup qualifier in June.

According to the Bolivian FA, the defender had been given the steroid dexamethazone following the June 6 game with Venezuela, as “he felt dizzy and wanted to vomit”.

Spokesman Javier Silva believed that the South American confederation wouldn’t sanction the player for the positive test.

Bolivia lost the match with Venezuela 1-0 and no longer have a chance to qualify for next year’s finals in South Africa.
