Bologna edge closer to Hickey deal

According to a recent report from Sky Sports, an agreement is close between Hearts and Bologna regarding a deal for Aaron Hickey.

The belief is that there are just a few minor details to sort out before it becomes reality, but the £1.5 million deal probably won’t be completed until early next week.

The 18-year-old would probably be signing as a reserve player if other reports are to be believed, but Hickey could also be in contention for the first team if he is able to impress.

We’re starting to see a contingent of highly-rated youngsters make the move away from English or Scottish football in favour of heading abroad, and the move makes a whole lot of sense. If nothing else, the rise of Jadon Sancho with Borussia Dortmund has taught us that we shouldn’t underestimate the impact of a strong few years overseas before eventually heading back to the Isles.
