According to ESPNsoccernet, Polish striker Ebi Smolarek has agreed to join Bolton Wanderers on a one-year loan from Spanish outfit Racing Santander.
The 27-year-old Polish international was part of their Euro 2008 squad scoring nine goals during Poland’s European Championship qualifying campaign but failing to find the target during his country’s first-ever finals appearance. He has also played for Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund.
According to a statement on the Spanish club’s website, ‘Racing and Bolton have reached an agreement for the loan of Ebi Smolarek to the British team until June 30, 2009.’
‘As well as that, the English outfit has an option to buy the Polish striker.’
Smolarek, has been named Polish Player of the Year a record three times having been awarded the mantle in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
