Bolton’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Tuesday night has been postponed.
The news comes in the wake of Fabrice Muamba’s collapse on the pitch in his team’s FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham on Saturday.
Muamba remains in a critical condition in the heart attack centre of the London Chest Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest, and the incident caused the match against Spurs to be abandoned.
Bolton revealed they requested the fixture be called off in talks with Villa, and the proposal was subsequently sanctioned by the Premier League.
A statement on the club’s website said: “The club would like to thank Aston Villa and the Premier League for their kind support and understanding at this time.”
“A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.”
