Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins hopes to complete a deal for Vitesse forward Wilfried Bony on Monday, according to reports in the Netherlands.
The 24-year-old’s future remains uncertain, with the Eredivisie side having previously released a statement on their website denying that a transfer for the player had been agreed.
That prompted the Ivory Coast international’s agent, Francis Kacou, to lambast the Dutch club for failing to settle on a fee with Swansea.
However, it now looks as though the Welsh club are on the verge of completing a deal for one of their main close-season targets, with reports suggesting that they will pay a club record fee in the region of £13.7 million.
“Until it is signed we cannot speak about an agreement , but there are only a few details now,” Jenkins is quoted as saying by De Telegraaf.
“We want (the deal) done by lunchtime (on Monday) or so. We have the last few details to sort with his representative, but that won’t be a problem.
“He will have his medical in Holland before joining up with the team.”
The League Cup winners are in the market for a new striker to partner Spaniard Michu, and have identified Bony as their main target.
They are short of options up front, with Danny Graham having departed the club for Sunderland in January, and fellow forwards Leroy Lita and Luke Moore likely to leave the Liberty Stadium.
