Bordeaux have turned their attention towards Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse after they failed to reach an agreement with Lorient forward Kevin Gameiro.
Les Girondins had agreed a transfer fee with Lorient but they couldn’t agree personal terms with Gameiro as he wanted to join Valencia instead.
Bordeaux wasted no time in finding a new target and they are closing in on Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse.
According to L’Equipe, les Girondins had a €10 million offer for the striker rejected as the Greeks are holding out for €14 million, but they have not been discouraged by the latest developments.
Cisse is reportedly eager to return to France and he would even be prepared to take a pay cut in order to join Bordeaux, so everything suggests the transfer could go through within the next few days.
The club president, Jean-Louis Triaud wants a new striker before the Sunday’s derby with Marseille.
