Ligue 1 giants Bordeaux have moved to confirm their interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Clement Chantome.
The highly rated footballer is heavily linked with a January exit and he has been on the radar of quite a few Ligue 1 sides.
However, it would appear as though Bordeaux lead the chase at the moment, with les Girondins chairman Jean-Louis Triaud revealing Chantome was club’s primary target.
“Clement Chantome is out priority,” Bordeaux’s official Twitter account quoted Triaud as saying. “We will ask shareholders for a new effort.”
Chantome has a contract until June 2015 at Parc des Princes, meaning he should be available on a cut-price deal in the winter transfer window.
Bar a recent loan spell with Toulouse, the 27-year-old has spent his entire career at PSG, making 162 league appearances and scoring 5 goals in the process.
With title rivals Marseille losing to Nice yesterday evening, the Saints will have an extra motive when they take on Saint Etienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, where they are 23/20 to emerge victorious.
